“ACE” tracks down Suspect
On 4-15-2016, Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office K-9 “ACE” and handler Deputy Mark McCracken were requested by the Forest City Police Department to assist with locating a suspect who ran from a traffic stop.
The incident began when an officer with FCPD conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Oak Street and McArthur Street.
The driver of the vehicle ran, and officers from FCPD pursued the suspect on foot.
Other officers with FCPD and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office set up a perimeter to contain the suspect.
K-9 “ACE” and Deputy Mark McCracken responded to the scene and began to track the suspect.
K-9 “ACE” was able to track the suspect for over 30 minutes over various roads, some woods and water.
The suspect, John Casey Gaizick, was located by K-9 “ACE”, taken into custody by officers with Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office and turned over to Forest City Police Department for charges.
Gaizick was charged with FTA Child Support, DWLR Impaired Rev, Fail Stop Stopsign/Flash Red Light, and Resisting Public Officer. Bond was set at $6,000.00 secured and $2,000.00 cash.
